What’s a passkey?
A passkey is a safer, easier way to log in. Instead of a password or verification code, you use your device’s built-in security—like Face ID, fingerprint, or PIN—to verify it’s you. Unlike passwords, they can’t be reused, guessed, or stolen in phishing attacks. Logging in is as easy as unlocking your device.
A passkey links your credentials to your password manager (such as iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager), not the website, making it more difficult for bad actors to try and steal your account.
