A+ homework tips

Tips to keep your child focused on their homework:

  • Pick a time when they are most alert
  • Offer a healthy snack and drink at the beginning
  • Have a quiet work space, preferably one that is clean and free of clutter
  • Make a list of which homework and subject to start with first, second and so forth
  • Set aside a reasonable amount of time for them to complete
  • Allow 10-15 minute breaks after every 30-40 minutes

Create a functional space for your child to do their homework using items from H-E-B and around your home. The more colorful and bright the items the better!

Get started:

  • Desk/table with storage area
  • Chair or stool
  • Calendar, dry erase board
  • Jars or bins to store pens, pencils, markers, rulers, tape, scissors, calculator, etc.
  • Clipboard(s) to hold each child’s homework, spelling words, artwork. etc. Leave on the clipboard until completed
  • Bell to ring when the child's homework is completed or if they need assistance
  • Area to display artwork, good grades, etc.
