Ingredients

  • 6 Large h-E-B Grade AA Cage Free Large Brown Eggs
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable oil
  • 15.2 oz Hill Country Fare White Moist Cake Mixes
  • 1 H-E-B Assorted Food Coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray three, 9-inch round cake pans with nonstick spray and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, use eggs, water and oil to prepare cake mixes according to package directions.
  3. Separate cake batter evenly between 3 medium bowls then add 1 tablespoon of different food coloring (purple, yellow or green) to each bowl so cakes are different colors. Mix well.
  4. Pour colored batters into prepared pans and bake 30 to 35 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  5. Let cakes cool completely then remove from pans. Carefully cut tops off of cakes so they are flat and can be stacked.
  6. Start with one cake and spread a thin layer of frosting on top. Add second cake on top of first, spread a thin layer of frosting on top and repeat with third cake.
  7. Use remaining frosting to cover the sides and top of the cake. Decorate with candy sprinkles that are included with the frosting.
  8. Chef's Note: Decorate with edible sugar skulls or Day of the Dead candies to personalize your cake.
