
Strawberry Shortcake Waffle Stack

- 1 lb fresh strawberries, washed, stems cut and strawberries thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup(s) powdered sugar, divided use, plus more as needed for sweetening whipped cream
- 1/4 cup(s) fresh squeezed orange juice, approximately 1 large juiced navel oranges
- 8 4/5 oz Frozen Belgian Style waffles, 2 each
- 16 oz heavy whipping cream
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/8 tsp fine sea salt, 1/8 tsp or a small pinch
- 1/3 cup(s) maples syrup, or as needed
Instructions
- In a bowl combine strawberries, 1/4 cup of powdered sugar and orange juice. Mix well to combine, cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow strawberries to marinate.
- Preheat oven to 400ºF. Line a sheet pan with parchment.
- Place waffles on prepared sheet pan and bake for 5 to 7 minutes or until just crispy and hot.
- While waffles bake, combine whipping cream, vanilla extract, remaining powdered sugar and salt in a bowl. Whip with a wire whisk or with a hand mixer until medium-stiff peaks form. Set aside.
- To assemble waffles break each waffle in half at the seam. Spoon an even amount of macerated strawberries over one waffle half then top evenly with whipped cream.
- Gently press other half of waffle on top of whipped cream, add more strawberries and drizzle with maple syrup. Repeat this process with remaining waffle. Garnish with more whipped cream and powdered sugar if desired.
