Unsaved Strawberry Shortcake Waffle Stack

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Fresh strawberries, washed, stems cut and strawberries thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup Powdered sugar, divided use, plus more as needed for sweetening whipped cream
  • 1/4 cup Fresh squeezed orange juice, approximately 1 large juiced navel oranges
  • 8.8 oz Frozen Belgian Style waffles, 2 each
  • 16 oz Heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1/8 tsp Fine sea salt, 1/8 tsp or a small pinch
  • 1/3 cup Maples syrup, or as needed

Instructions

  1. In a bowl combine strawberries, 1/4 cup of powdered sugar and orange juice. Mix well to combine, cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow strawberries to marinate.
  2. Preheat oven to 400ºF.
  3. Place waffles onto prepared sheet pan and bake for 5 to 7 minutes or until just crispy and hot.
  4. While waffles bake combine whipping cream, vanilla, remaining powdered sugar and salt in a bowl. Whip with a wire whisk or with a hand mixer until medium-stiff peaks form. Set aside.

  6. To assemble waffles break each waffle in half at the seam. Spoon an even amount of macerated strawberries over one waffle half then top evenly with whipped cream.
  7. Gently press other half of waffle on top of whipped cream, add more strawberries and drizzle with maple syrup. Repeat this process with remaining waffle. Garnish with more whipped cream and powdered sugar if desired.
