Unsaved Sourdough Stuffing with Arrabiata Sausage

Ingredients

  • 16 oz Loaf of sourdough bread, cut into bite sized pieces or 1 inch cubes
  • 1 lb Hot Italian sausage, crumbled
  • 1 tbsp H-E-B Peeled Garlic Cloves, minced
  • 1 Medium yellow onion(s), small diced
  • 1 cup Celery stalks, diced
  • 1/2 tsp Morton Coarse Kosher Salt, plus more as needed for seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp H-E-B Black Pepper Grinder
  • 1 tsp Patty's Herbs Thyme., chopped
  • 1 tsp H-E-B Organics Rosemary, chopped
  • 1 tsp Patty's Herbs Oregano, chopped
  • 1 1/4 cups H-E-B Select Ingredients Chicken Broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375ºF.
  2. Cut all sourdough bread into bite sized chunks.
  3. Place on a sheet pan and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until bread is slightly toasted. Allow to cool and assemble rest of the stuffing.
  4. In a sauté pan set over medium heat, sauté sausage until some of the fat renders.
  5. Add garlic, onions, celery, salt and pepper. Stir fry until veggies are all soft and translucent.
  6. Add thyme, rosemary, and oregano, stir fry again and remove from heat once sausage is fully cooked.
  7. In a large bowl add bread along with sausage mixture and chicken broth.
  8. Toss everything to combine and pour into a prepared casserole dish and bake for 20 to 25 minutes just to brown allowing liquid to absorb.
  9. Serve along side Thanksgiving turkey or stuff this mixture into a chicken breast and bake for a great weekday treat.
