Unsaved Hawaiian Smash Burgers

  • 6 medium hamburger buns
  • 6 each slices of cored fresh pineapple
  • 6 each Seasoned Smash Burger Patties, garlic peppercorn flavor
  • 1 large red onion, very thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 cup(s) Hawaiian BBQ sauce

Instructions

  1. Heat a heavy skillet or flat-top griddle to medium-high.
  2. Using spray oil, lightly coat inside of buns and set aside. Drain pineapple slices and gently pat dry with a paper towel. Set aside.
  3. When griddle or pan is hot, place smash burger meat on griddle. Place a small piece of parchment paper on top of burger meat. Using the back of a heavy spatula or a heavy press, push down firmly to spread out to the size of the bun. Add onions on top of each. Cook 3 to 4 minutes on each side, or to an internal temperature of 165ºF.
  4. While hamburgers are cooking, toast buns and pineapple slices alongside the burgers.
  5. To assemble burgers, pour Hawaiian BBQ sauce on toasted sides of buns. Add burgers and grilled pineapple. Top with any additional garnish such as lettuce or avocado as desired.
