
Bananas Foster Sauce

Ingredients
Serves 4
- 4 oz salted butter, cut into even pads or sliced
- 3/4 cup(s) dark brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp fine sea salt
- 4 medium bananas- ripe but still firm, sliced in half lengthwise then crosswise giving you 4 even slices cut again
- 1 tbsp rum extract
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Set a large non-stick sauté pan over medium heat. Add butter and allow to melt and get bubbly.
- Add brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir until sugar mixture melts and sauce starts to emulsify.
- Add bananas cut side down to sugar mixture. Gently stir to soften bananas, approximately 4 to 6 minutes.
- Add rum and vanilla extract. Stir and cook an additional 3 to 5 minutes to cook out the alcohol.
- Remove sauce from heat and serve with your favorite ice cream. Garnish with nuts or crumbled pralines if desired.
