Bananas Foster Sauce

Unsaved Bananas Foster Sauce

Ingredients

Serves 4

  • 4 oz salted butter, cut into even pads or sliced
  • 3/4 cup(s) dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp fine sea salt
  • 4 medium bananas- ripe but still firm, sliced in half lengthwise then crosswise giving you 4 even slices cut again
  • 1 tbsp rum extract
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Set a large non-stick sauté pan over medium heat. Add butter and allow to melt and get bubbly.
  2. Add brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir until sugar mixture melts and sauce starts to emulsify.
  3. Add bananas cut side down to sugar mixture. Gently stir to soften bananas, approximately 4 to 6 minutes.
  4. Add rum and vanilla extract. Stir and cook an additional 3 to 5 minutes to cook out the alcohol.
  5. Remove sauce from heat and serve with your favorite ice cream. Garnish with nuts or crumbled pralines if desired.
