
Atole de Vanilla

Ingredients
- 4 oz Piloncillo, about half of the cone
- 1 cup Water
- 3 Cinnamon sticks, plus more for garnish
- 32 oz H-E-B Select Ingredients Whole Milk
- 3/4 cup Maseca
- 2 tsp H-E-B Select Ingredients Pure Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Extract, or 1 vanilla bean
- 1/2 tsp Morton Coarse Kosher Salt
Instructions
- Combine piloncillo, water, and 3 cinnamon sticks together in a medium sized saucepan. Bring mixture to a simmer over medium-high heat and stir until piloncillo is completely dissolved, then add in the milk.
- Whisk in the maseca, and stir constantly for 3 to 4 minutes until smooth and no lumps are visible. Reduce to a low simmer for 15 minutes then add in vanilla and salt.
- Strain through a a fine mesh sieve if desired. Serve hot and garnish with a cinnamon stick.
