The Taira family story began over 50 years ago in Hilo, Hawaii. Our father, Robert Taira, borrowed $382 from a family friend and opened a small but successful bakery. While he baked many delicious treats, it was the popularity of his King's Hawaiian Sweet Bread that took us far beyond our island home. Inspired by Portuguese keeper bread, a sweet, hearty recipe favored by sailors on long ocean voyages, our King's Hawaiian Sweet Bread recipe was created to be a softer, moister bread with the same wonderful sweetness. Many of our friends and customers have long asked for a more traditional butter roll but made in the same fashion as our Hawaiian sweet and honey wheat rolls - a light, moist texture created from the high quality ingredients that have long been a hallmark bakes. We are proud to present King's Hawaiian Savory Butter rolls with a homemade buttery taste your family is sure to love. They make any meal a special occasion.
