Description

Folie a Deux Chardonnay White Wine comes from the Russian River Valley, where cool temperatures allow grapes to develop intense flavors and vibrant acidity. Opulent and alluring, this dry white wine showcases aromas of tropical melon, lemon curd, delicate vanilla, pears, pineapple and apricot. Flavors of baked pear, apple tart with a hint of nutmeg and preserved lemon are complemented with a crisp, fruit driven, soft and creamy texture, balanced with lingering acidity. The 2018 vintage received 92 points from Tasting Panel in the October 2020 magazine issue. This California Chardonnay white wine is the perfect complement to white mushroom truffle pasta or baked salmon topped with herbs of dill and fresh squeezed lemon. Folie a Deux wines are crafted to exude varietal character, while expressing the nuances of Sonoma County's iconic sub-appellations. The grapes for this Folie a Deux Chardonnay were sourced primarily from vineyards in the Russian River Valley AVA. Cooling fog from the Pacific Ocean blankets the Russian River Valley's vineyards, reducing temperatures by 35 to 40 degrees at night and fostering a long, even growing season. Fermenting the Chardonnay grapes in a combination of French, American and Hungarian oak barrels adds complexity to the variety's rich fruit flavors and maintains bright acidity. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and then barrel aging for 6 months. This bottled wine has 14.2% alcohol by volume. Folie a Deux wines are exclusively sourced from Sonoma appellations, where each variety thrives in local terroir. Sustainable farming and true-to-varietal wines evoke a sense of place and true Sonoma.
