Immigrants from Argentina, the founders of Cocina 54, Cecilia Panichelli and Federico Carrillo, wanted to create a brand that would bring Latin American flavors to today's multicultural consumer. They started with Latin America's favorite snack: empanadas. Fifteen years ago, they settled in Austin, Texas but could not find good empanadas anywhere. They started making them on the weekend for busy weeknight dinners. They shared them with friends and brought them to the office, and everyone loved them. Cocina 54 products are made from scratch with fresh vegetables and antibiotic-free meats and are pre-baked and microwavable.
