The caterpillars will eat the foliage of the plant so take them off if you want to use the fresh leaves for cooking.- To harvest the fresh foliage, cut the leaves off close to the stem to promote additional growth. Once the plant begins to flower you will no longer be able to use the fresh foliage. Let the flowers seed out and cut the flower stems before the seeds begin to drop. Place the seed pods in a paper bag and let them dry out completely before placing them in a container.
Likes bright filtered sun, and even moisture (moist soil), High temperatures will cause bolting (flower & seed production).
