Description
The vintage was cool by Napa standards, with average daytime high temperatures hovering in the low 80s. Fog became a determining factor for many valley floor vineyards, with the onset of botrytis mold dictating picking decisions and/or overall yields. Located at the center of the St. Helena appellation where the Mayacama and Vaca Ranges constrict, the Hourglass Estate vineyard benefits from a unique thermal dynamic that keeps fog accumulation to an absolute minimum. As a result, we were able to achieve full ripeness, while the cooler days helped retain natural acidity producing a classically structured wine.
