Layaway FAQs

 

Is there a Layaway charge?
There is no charge for customers who pay for their purchases in full by December 14, 2017. However, there will be a $5 charge for customers who cancel their layaway plans or fail to pay in full by December 14, 2017.

Do you offer this Layaway plan at my H-E-B? Why is it not available in my area?
The Layaway program is only available at H-E-B plus! Stores this year. Our other store formats do not offer the variety of merchandise being offered for layaway that our Customers want. The Plus Stores can better meet our Customer shopping needs.

I decided to cancel my order. How do I get my cash back and will it be in the type of tender I paid with (Visa, MC, Discovery, Cash, etc.)?
If a Customer requests their layaway order be canceled, they will need to visit the store location where they have their order and go to the layaway desk. The Partner will assist them in canceling the order and refund the amount of money paid on the account, minus the $5 cancellation fee. The money will be refunded back in the same form of tender it was given.

Can I make a payment(s) online or at another H-E-B location?
No. At this time, we are set up to only accept payments at the same location where the layaway was initiated. All payments will need to be made at the layaway desk (where you set up your layaway order initially).

Customer made a deposit/payment with a check and is canceling order. Check has not cleared. How do we refund?
The stores will follow the current refund policy — the refund will be issued based upon the original method of payment. Please remember that a Customer will not have a final receipt until after payoff and pickup. The policy for refund will begin after pickup. The Customer will have either their initial deposit 2 ticket or payment ticket that will be used to cancel a layaway and this should show how the Customer paid to refund. The current refund policy will apply to layaway purchases after they have made their final payment and received their layaway.

Went to pick up my merchandise and the store has misplaced the item and there are none in stock. What can you do for me besides a full refund?
Contact the Store Leader and they will assist any Customer with this type of issue. Our Store Leaders are trained to make every effort to fully satisfy the Customer. With the emotional attachment to having a holiday layaway, the Store Leaders are aware and understand the significance of providing an acceptable solution to resolve this type of issue.

Will you accept a final payment after Dec 14th?
We are requiring that all orders be paid in full and picked up by December 14th. All items not paid for and picked up by that date will be returned to inventory for sale.

Will I get my deposit back?
The deposit of 10% or $10 whichever is greater will be deducted from the purchase price. This results in not having a refund as it is payment on the sale, not a layaway fee like others charge. All acceptable forms of payment for H-E-B will be accepted for layaway deposit and payments.

Does this mean H-E-B gift cards will be an acceptable form of payment?
Yes, an H-E-B gift card will be an acceptable form of tender to pay on a layaway. As in all refunds, if this order is refunded, the refund would be loaded back onto an H-E-B gift card.

Will you have to retain your receipt for your layaway to receive a refund if the layaway is not picked up by 12/14?
It is recommended that you save all of your layaway receipts and bring them to the store for any layaway transaction. The store can retrieve your layaway order by the Customer name and/or phone number and will have the necessary information needed to process a cancellation/refund. For a refund, you will need a photo ID for proof of identity before a refund is issued using the tender form you initially paid with.

How old do you have to be to participate in the layaway plan?
There is no age limit. A Customer needs a name and phone number, as well as an acceptable form of payment, to initiate a layaway.

What if an item put on layaway goes on sale? Will the customer be able to get the sale price/difference?
Yes, the Customer will need to go to the store where they initiated the layaway and go to the layaway desk. They will talk to the Partner at the layaway desk and inform them that they have an order on layaway. They will identify the item that has now gone on sale and ask for the sale price. The Partner will handle the transaction and ensure the Customer gets the sale price of the item if it falls within the acceptable guidelines.

Can I use my VPP discounts or VPP Partner Bonus programs for a layaway?
VPP discounts and VPP Partner Bonus programs do not apply to the layaway down payment, only to the price of the item(s). If a Customer or Partner desires to use their points or VPP Partner Bonus, we recommend they purchase a gift card with those credits and then apply the gift card to the down payment on the layaway. H-E-B PCR points and PCR Reward dollars (Waco only) do not apply.

Layaway Terms and Conditions:
1Layaway valid thru December 14, 2017 only in H-E-B plus!® stores. Available for electronics, toys, small appliances, and Patio only. Required down payment of $10 or 10% of your total layaway purchase, whichever is greater. A $50 minimum total purchase is required, and each item must be $10 or more. Clearance items are not eligible for layaway. Yellow coupons offering free non-eligible layaway items cannot be applied to the layaway transaction (all free items involved in the yellow coupon offer must also be placed on layaway). Payments, balance inquiries, pick-ups, and cancellations must be made at the Layaway Counter in the same H-E-B plus!® store where you opened your layaway. Only cash, check, credit card, debit card or H-E-B gift card are accepted as forms of payment. The payment schedule on your receipt is a recommendation and not required. Final payment is due December 14, 2017, or your layaway will be cancelled and the item will be returned to inventory where it may be sold to another customer. In the event your layaway is cancelled, we will refund all money you have paid, less a $5 cancellation charge. You must present a valid photo ID to open, cancel or pick up your layaway. You authorize H-E-B to contact you at the telephone number or email address you have provided for the purposes of the layaway program.
