Ingredients

Recipe makes 8 Servings

3 cup(s) unbleached all purpose flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1 1/2 Tsp baking soda
1 Tsp salt
2 Tsp sugar
8 Tbsp salted butter, 6 Tbsp chilled and cubed, 2 Tbsp melted
6 Oz cream cheese, chilled and cubed
1 1/4 cup(s) buttermilk
2 Tbsp fresh chives, finely chopped
8 Oz whipped cream cheese, (for garnish)
4 Oz H-E-B Smoked Salmon, Scottish Style, cut into strips
1/4 cup(s) red onion, very finely chopped

Instructions

Preheat oven to 425°F.

Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and sugar together in a large bowl.

Add butter and cream cheese to dry ingredients. Rub together with fingertips to make a crumbly texture.

Add buttermilk and chives and bring together to a dough. Turn out onto a floured surface and knead briefly, just to bring dough together to a smooth texture.

Roll out to 1/2 inch thick and cut using a biscuit cutter. Place on baking sheet and brush with remaining melted butter.

Bake 9 to 11 minutes, or until lightly brown on tops.

Top with whipped cream cheese, smoked salmon and chopped red onion.
