Preheat grill to 350ºF. In small saucepan combine honey, vanilla bean, water and salt. Bring to simmer to blend flavors, set aside and allow to cool.
Prep strawberries and basil by trimming tops of strawberry and cutting strawberries in half lengthwise. Wash and trim stems off the basil leaves. Whole strawberries can be used instead of cutting them in half, just trim tops.
On wooden or metal skewers place 3 strawberries cut side down and wrap or fold basil leaf on top of strawberry securing basil leaf with same skewer. Repeat process for all kabobs.
Brush honey vanilla mixture over both sides of skewers and cook on grill 2 minutes per side, looking to get little color on strawberries. Remove from grill and brush with more honey mixture if desired.
Serve warm over ice cream or refrigerate. Or serve as cold summer hors d'oeuvres.
