Heat oven to 350°F.
Grease an 8-inch square pan.
For crust, combine flour, 1/2 cup butter and 3 tablespoons sugar in a medium-size bowl. Mix with electric mixer on low speed 1 minute.
Press the crust mixture in the prepared pan. Prick the crust with a fork several times and bake on the center oven rack for 15 minutes.
Remove the crust from the oven and sprinkle with chocolate morsels. Allow to cool for 2 minutes then spread the melted morsels over the crust.
For the filling, place 1 1/2 cups sugar in a heavy sauce pan and melt the sugar over medium-low heat stirring constantly until it is golden colored; about 15 to 20 minutes.
Once the sugar has caramelized, add the corn syrup, butter and cream. Stir the caramel mixture constantly over medium-low heat until the temperature reaches 240°F.
Immediately remove the caramel syrup from the heat and stir in the chopped walnuts.
Pour caramel walnut mixture over the prepared crust. Smooth the caramel mixture evenly.
Carefully melt the unsweetened chocolate in a heavy saucepan over medium-low heat.
Drizzle the melted chocolate over the caramel walnut layer.
Cool the caramel walnut mixture and then cut into 1-inch squares.
