Classic Italian Turkey Pasta Sauce

Recipe makes 6 Servings

1 Tbsp olive or canola oil
1 medium onion, chopped
1 cup(s) celery, chopped
1/2 cup(s) carrots, chopped
1 Honeysuckle White 85/15 Ground Turkey
1 cup(s) dry red wine
1 cup(s) H-E-B Select Ingredients Reduced Sodium Chicken Broth
28 Oz crushed tomatoes
1 Tsp Italian herbs

In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat.
Add onions, celery and carrots; cook about 5 minutes or until soft.
Transfer to medium-size slow cooker.
In the same skillet, crumble turkey in a single layer and stir constantly for 7-8 minutes, or until cooked through and a meat thermometer reads 165°F.
Transfer to slow cooker.
Pour wine into skillet; simmer until reduced to 1/2 cup.
Add wine, chicken broth, tomatoes and Italian herbs to slow cooker; season with salt and pepper.
Cover and cook on LOW 6 to 8 hours.
Variation: Substitute 1 package (20 ounces) Honeysuckle White® Sweet or Hot Italian Sausage, casings removed, for ground turkey, and omit Italian herbs.
