Start by picking the melon up. It should feel heavy for its size, indicating that it has a great deal of sweet juice inside. Next, gently tap the melon close to your ear. Tapping should yield a hollow sound, rather than a dull thud. Make sure the melon does not feel mushy or slimy, as these are signs that the melon is over ripe. Melons can be stored for up to three days in the refrigerator. Once cut open, melons can be eaten alone, added to fruit salads or used to make an assortment of foods. Melons are also delicious served room temperature and it brings out the natural sweetness of the fruit. Made in China.
1. Slice the end of the melon, about 1/2 inch thick on a cutting board. 2. Place the sliced end up and insert the slicer into the flesh. 3. Rock slicer back and forth to get a good grip, then push down firmly on the fruit. 4. Slicer yields perfect wedges. Hand wash recommended.
