We have selected Hard Red Winter Wheat, also known as wheat berries, for this latest addition to our expanding line of wholesome grains. Wheat Berries are grains of wheat without the husk. They are a great source of fiber and they contain iron and 6 grams of protein per serving. like our farro and quinoa products, wheat berries are extremely easy to use as side dishes, or as additions to salads, and soups, or even as breakfast cereal instead of oatmeal or cream of wheat. We suggest that you cook a large batch of Earthly Delights wheat berries over the weekend and store it in the refrigerator. When you want a delicious whole grain for breakfast, simply scoop out a cup of the cooked wheat berries, add dried or frozen fruit, some nuts and a little milk, and microwave. Or for an easy side dish at dinner, sate some vegetables until tender, add some wheat berries, a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and you have a healthy and wholesome alternative to a rice dish. Wheat Berries have a wholesome nutty flavor with a slight crunch, supplementing any dish with a hearty appeal. We parboil our wheat berries to shorten your cooking time. Preparation Instructions

How to Cook: Add 1 cup of wheat berries to 2-1/2 cups of liquid. Combine in a saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer covered until the wheat berries are tender but still chewy in texture, about 15 minutes. We have discovered that rice cookers are an easy way to prepare wheat berries, farro and quinoa. Wheat Berries are an agricultural product. Despite the use of modern cleaning equipment it is not always possible to remove all foreign material. Always rinse and sort Wheat Berries before cooking.
