Minute Multi-Grain Medley

Product Description

Eating a variety of whole grains is recommended. Minute Multi-Grain Medley contains a variety of gluten-free whole grains - brown, red and wild rice and quinoa. Whole grain rice is usually brown but can be black, purple, red, or a variety of exotic hues. Health Bonus: Rice is one of the most easily-digested grains - one reason rice cereal is often recommended as a baby's first solid food. This makes rice ideal for those who are gluten-intolerant. Wild rice is not technically rice at all, but the seed of an aquatic grass. It has a strong, hearty flavor that goes well with other grains. Quinoa is a small, light-colored round grain, similar in appearance to sesame seeds. It cooks up light and fluffy.

Preparation Instructions

Saucepan: 2 Servings: 1 bag; 1 cup water; 1 tsp oil (optional). 4 Servings: 2 bags; 1-3/4 cups water; 2 tsp oil (optional). 1/2 cup uncooked rice = 1 serving about 2/3 cup cooked rice. Do not use bag for cooking. 1. Combine water and contents of one bag in medium saucepan and stir. Add oil if desired. 2. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer 10 minutes or until water is absorbed. 3. Remove from heat. Fluff with fork. Microwave: 2 Servings: 1 bag; 1 cup water; 10 minutes; 1 tsp oil (optional). 4 Servings: 2 bags; 1-3/4 cups water; 2 minutes; 2 tsp oil (optional). 1. Combine water and contents of one bag in a 2-quart microwave-safe dish and stir. Add oil if desired. 2. Cover. Microwave on high for 10 minutes or until water is absorbed. 3. Remove from microwave. Fluff with fork. Microwave ovens vary. Cooking times are approximate. Cooking Tips: To add more flavor, substitute broth, fruit juice or vegetable juice for water. Or Stir in: olive oil/butter/salt; cooked meat/poultry/seafood/tofu; vegetables; seasonings; dried fruit/nuts.
