J. Lohr. Delicate tendrils of fog waft over the vines like the touch of cooling fingers upon J. Lohr Fog's Reach Vineyard, located in Monterey's windy Arroyo Seco appellation. Here, our Pinot Noir grapes grow on two different rootstocks amidst the cobbly, sandy loam soils. Comprised of coveted Dijon clones 115, 667, 777 and Pommard 4, our grapes are hand harvested, destemmed and sorted into six or twelve ton open top fermentation tanks. The grapes are then cold soaked for approximately five days prior to warming and inoculation with yeast. Twice daily punch downs help extract the delicate Pinot Noir fruit character. Once pressed, the wines settle overnight and are then racked to new and second fill Burgundian French oak barrels for eight months barrel aging prior to racking, final blending and bottling. Spicy and fruity, our J. Lohr Fog's Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir is easily enjoyed with grilled lamb, duck, or veal. California.
