Preparation Instructions
Creamy Swedish Meat Balls Prep Time: 15 minutes Cook Time: 30 minutes 1 pound lean ground HAMBURGER, CHUCK, or SIRLOIN 3/4 cup HILL COUNTRY FARE(R) PLAIN BREAD CRUMBS 1 cup TOMATO SAUCE 1 small ONION, chopped 1 EGG beaten 1/2 cup CHICKEN BROTH 1 - 10.5 oz. can CREAM OF MUSHROOM SOUP 3/4 cup SKIM MILK 1. Heat oven to 400°F. Spray a 9"" x 13"" baking dish with non-stick cooking spray and set aside. 2. Combine the lean ground beef, Hill Country Fare(R) Plain Bread Crumbs, 1/2 cup tomato sauce, chopped onion, beaten egg and chicken broth in a large mixing bowl. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Stir quickly with a spoon to combine the ingredients (excessive mixing will make meatballs tough). 3. Roll meat mixture into small one inch balls and place in baking dish. Bake on center rack of oven for 15 minutes. 4. Meanwhile, combine the mushroom soup, 1/2 cup tomato sauce, and milk in the food processor or blender bowl and blend for 30 seconds to a smooth sauce consistency. Once the meatballs have baked for 15 min., pour the sauce over the meatballs, cover with foil and bake for and additional 15 minutes. Makes: 6 servings Meal Tip: Serve over Buttered Noodles or Rice; with Parsley and Carrots.
