Description
Fortress North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon has an intense color with a dark ruby center and garnet edges. Aromas of raspberry to dark plum with a bit of dark spice and a lift of sweet toffee. The palate is fruit-forward with dark lush blackberry, blueberry, and black cherry flavors, followed by a great mid-palate with chewy tannins on the finish. Overall, the wine has great balance and is approachable enough to drink young as well as the structure and tannins to age gracefully.
In the winery, we use minimalist techniques that allow the signature flavors of the North Coast to shine through¬—the elegant structure of Alexander Valley, the bold ripe fruit notes of Mendocino Ridge, and the rich savory notes of Pine Mountain. In the classic Bordeaux style, Merlot and Malbec are added to a core of Cabernet Sauvignon for greater depth and complexity. The final blend is always smooth and balanced, conveying a bold expression of the North Coast.
Appellation: North Coast, California
ABV: 13.9%
Varietals: 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Malbec, 9% Merlot
Aging: 11 months in primarily French oak; 20% new barrels
