Quinoa, pronounced keen-wah, is grown in South and Central America. Often called a superfood, quinoa is considered a balanced protein that is high in nutrients and fiber. The combination of quinoa, brown and white basmati brings a sweet and nutty flavor to the blend. Red rice, which has a soft texture and delicate, earthy flavor is complemented by the natural, smoky notes and light crunch of the wild rice. Easy to prepare because out blend is quick cooking, but without the use of added artificial flavors or sodium found in most convenient rice. Delicious on its own (as a side dish) or as part of a recipe. Non-GMO Project Verified.
Stove Top Method: 1. Measure 2 cups of water into a medium sized saucepan with a tight fitting lid and bring to a boil. Salt to taste. 2. Stir in 1 cup of rice blend. 3. Cover saucepan with a tight fitting lid. Lower the heat and simmer for 15 minutes or until the rice is tender and all of the water has been absorbed. Remove from heat, let sit for 5 minutes, then fluff with a fork. Microwave: 1. Combine 1 cup of rice blend with 2 cups of water. Salt to taste. Cook in a 2 quart microwavable safe dish with a cover. 2. Cover and microwave on high 100% power for 5 minutes. Stir. 3. Cover and continue to cook at 60% power for 8 minutes or until all water is absorbed. Let stand for 2-3 minutes, then fluff with a fork and serve. These are guidelines only as microwaves may vary. If microwave will not reduce setting to 60% power it is not recommended to use this cooking method.
