Comet Long Grain Rice

Ah, the bright yellow box. When our rice first appeared in consumer sized packages, it was considered revolutionary. In 1902, such a thing simply hadn't been done yet. Now that same Comet Rice box is a comforting beacon of quality and wholesome deliciousness. Many things have changed in the hundred years since that first consumer sized package of Comet Rice rolled out into the world on a horse drawn buggy, but our wholesome quality has always stayed the same.

Preparation Instructions

One cup uncooked rice yields about three and one half cups cooked rice. 1. Measure 1 cup Comet rice, 1 teaspoon of salt (optional) and 1 tablespoon butter or olive oil (optional). 2. Add 2 cups water and bring to a boil. 3. Cover with tight-fitting lid. Lower heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving. To retain vitamins do not rinse before or drain after cooking. For a drier rice, use slightly less water. 1-3/4 Cups Cooked Rice (About): 1/2 cups rice; 1 cup water; 1/2 tsp. salt (optional); 1/2 tbsp. butter or olive oil (optional). 3-1/2 Cups Cooked Rice (About): 1 cup rice; 2 cups water; 1 tsp. salt (optional); 1 tbsp. butter or olive oil (optional). 7 Cups Cooked Rice (About): 2 cups rice; 4 cups water; 2 tsp. salt (optional); 2 tbsp. butter or olive oil (optional). Microwave Directions: 1. Refer to chart for desired number of servings. 2. Measure all ingredients into a 2 to 3 quart microwave approved dish. 3. Cover and microwave on high for 5 minutes or until mixture comes to a boil. 4. Reduce heat to medium (50% power) for 15 minutes. Remove from microwave and let stand 5 minutes. Fluff with fork and serve. Note: Microwave ovens vary. Cooking times are approximate.
