Guide for Celebrations Ahhhh, champagne! What better symbol could there possibly be of celebration and good times? Just the effervescence of all those tiny bubbles is enough to add fizz to just about any occassion. The Champagne you choose for your party will probably depend upon your personal preferences and your budget. In general, sparkling wines range in flavor from dry to sweet and bottles labeled "sparkling wine" are less expensive than true Champagnes. The degree of sweetness is indicated on the label. Brut has very little or no sweetness. Extra Dry is less dry. Sec is sweeter, and Demi-sec is the sweetest of sparkling wines. While all champagne is sparkling wine, not all sparkling wine is champagne. Only sparkling wine made in the Champagne region of France, is technically Champagne. Use this quick guide to make your selection easier.
