- Use complementary colors: pinks/reds/oranges, blue/lilac/violet
- Use contrasting colors: white/red, yellow/purple
- Buy large transplants for instant effect.
- Rearrange pots for a quick landscape design change.
- Use pots and containers to hide unsightly views.
- For uneven sun locations, rotate pots periodically.
- Keep larger plants in background, smaller plants in front.
- Water containers more often than in-ground plants.
- Check the surface of the container's soil frequently and water when
dry to touch.
- Place containers on bricks or wood to aid with air circulation.
- Use a water-soluble plant food every other week at half-strength.
- Use a potting mixture and include the amount of Osmocote slow-release
fertilize pellets recommended for the container size.
- Experiment with alternative containers like barrels, hollowed-out
rocks, toy wagons—whatever.
