Decorating Eggs with Household Items With or without packaged dye, food coloring or natural dye on the shell, you can also decorate eggs with things you probably have in your home. Look through your pantry, closets and desk to see what you might use.  Food items. Using nontoxic glue, attach different colored rice
or small pasta.Spices/seeds. Make a design with spices and seeds. You can glue on cloves or Chinese five-star spice or any kind of seed from big sunflower seeds to tiny poppy seeds. You can also use colorful dried red peppers or crinkly whole peppercorns. Sewing items. Attach braid, ribbon, rickrack or cording; lace, netting, fabric, felt or fake fur scraps or buttons. Desk stuff. Try postage stamps; construction, tissue or crepe paper; notebook paper reinforcers or the holes of paper from a paper punch. Odds & ends. Use drinking straws or broomstick straws; wooden picks; string; cotton balls. Craft supplies. Glue on sequins or glitter; beads or yarn. Secret treasures. Consider using feathers; small seashells and old jewelry. |
