Although essential oils are part of most aromatic soaps and candles, their most effective benefits come from direct contact with the skin—that is, in the bath water. Essential oils evaporate quickly, so oils containing either vitamin E or honey allow them to linger longer in the bath. For that reason, too, you should add essential oils immediately before entering the bath.

Soak in Luxury. As you're soaking in a luscious bouquet of perfumed bubbles, practice relaxation techniques. Breathe in deeply and exhale slowly, relax your neck and shoulders, think positive thoughts. Read a book or magazine. Snack from a bath-side tray of chocolates, chilled fruits, and sparkling juice or water.

Consider applying a peel-off facial mask, and while you're waiting for the finished results, give your hands and feet a relaxing massage.

What else can you do to de-stress? Health experts suggest a number of solutions—exercise (especially Pilates or yoga), meditation, deep breathing, good nutrition, healthy lifestyle and, yes, even a warm bath.
