High above the valley floor, from our Mount Veeder - Napa Valley Vineyard, favorite blocks of rich, concentrated berries are chosen to craft this proprietary mountain cuvee. At 1,300 to 2,000 feet, volcanic soils on steep slopes yield intensely flavored fruit of great complexity, resulting in an elegant, memorable wine showing black cherry and ripe plum notes with vanilla, cardamom and sage. Certified sustainable by Napa Green. Red wine. Alc. 14.2% by vol. Produced and bottled by Hess Collection Winery, Napa, CA, USA.

Grown on the steeps of Hess's Veeder Summit vineyard, rising from 1,300 to 2,000 feet with views of the Pacific, this is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (69 percent) with Malbec, Syrah, Merlot and Petit Verdot. It's foresty and cool with the juiciness of blackberries and strawberries, then it finishes peppery, soft and relatively gentle for a mountain wine. A full-bodied blend for roast lamb.

The Hess Collection vineyards represent the diverse growing conditions seen in the Napa Valley. We grow grapes in both cool climates and hot. Our sites are gently sloped along the Bay to steep in the mountains. History has taught us what is best for our vines, and we learn how to better tend to our vineyards with each passing vintage. This has allowed us to develop site specific viticulture programs for each of our ranches. At the same time we've instituted a number of environmentally-friendly initiatives that keep us at the forefront of sustainable vineyard practices.
