2009White

White Blend-California-Other Central Coast

Proprietor: Charles L. Hope. Winemaker: Austin Hope. The diversity of California's Central Coast continues to evolve with the establishment of vineyards planted to Rhone Varieties. Mer Soleil Vineyard, located in the Santa Lucia Highlands, is greatly influenced by the maritime breezes off the Monterey Bay. This cooler climate maintains balance and bright acidity in the wine. Treana White is partially barrel fermented. Viognier, with floral spice character, and Marianne, with its broad, rich texture, form a natural union when blended together. A complex mineral quality offers a restrained elegance that complements a wide variety of foods and preparation techniques. Treana wines represent a fresh dimension to our stat's viticulture diversity. Product of USA. Alc. 14.5% by Vol. California.

Light gold. Lemon pith, dried pear, peach and a hint of oak spice on the oily, fragrant nose. Ripe, round and generous but with good energy to the flavors of dried pit fruits, candied lemon and marzipan. Sappy, deeply pitched and rich, with very good finishing volume and persistence. This big boy could handle the richest, most buttery poultry or fish dishes.

The Hope family began planting vineyards in the area in 1978. Two decades of experience has taught them not only how to grow the finest quality wine grapes, but has also shown them the tremendous potential of the region. Formerly, the Hopes sold wine under the Hope Family label directly from the winery's tasting room. Beginning with the 1990 vintage, the Hope ranches became the sole source of fruit for Liberty School Cabernet Sauvignon. In 1996, they founded Treana Winery after years of hands-on experience in viticulture and winemaking.
