The vineyards of Chateauneuf du Pape are a vast bedrock of large stones, some fist size. These large rocks absorb and retain heat which keeps the area warm during the night. All of the wine goes through cold maceration before fermentation. It then undergoes malolactic fermentation, all of which enables the fruit to ripen and develop complexity. The wine is aged 18 months - 10% in new oak. Intense, deep and brilliant red color. This wine offers aromas of red fruits, leather, liquorices and spices. Clean mouth feel with an immediate unctuous impact. Soft tannins and a long finish.

Maison Michel Picard was established in 1951 by Louis Felix Picard at Chateau de Chassagne Montrachet with 2 hectares of vines in Chagny. A few years later at the age of 15, Michel Picard was asked by his father to help him with the vineyards and winemaking. For several years Michel would travel throughout Burgundy on a Peugeot motorcycle meeting the growers and getting to know the whole region intimately. In the early seventies, Michel took over the family operation with the help of his wife Liliane. In the late nineties, Michel s children Francine and Gabriel joined the family business. Today, Maison Michel Picard owns vineyards throughout Burgundy including several within premier cru and grand cru sites.
