Brilliant deep garnet with rose highlights and a bewitching perfume of ripe black cherry, plum, and anise, plus an earthiness that's evocative of the Northern Rh ne cuv es of Cornas. Supple tannins yield to bright, brambly berries, black cherry, red currant, plum, and licorice. Silky and nuanced, with a juicy core that balances the fruit and earth. The "Le Pousseur" Syrah is named for an alchemist and trickster, but is withal an incredibly accessible wine, great by the glass but also a felicitous partner to all manner of roasted meats, poultry, game, wild mushrooms, and aged cheeses. Made of 100% Syrah.

Bonny Doon Vineyard is a winery based in the city of Santa Cruz in the central coast of California. It was started by Randall Grahm in 1983. Bonny Doon was amongst the first Californian wineries to embrace Rhone varietals, giving Randall Grahm the nickname "The Rhone Ranger". The winery is known for its untraditional labels, including illustrations by Ralph Steadman, Bascove, Grady McFerrin, and Gary Taxali. In recent years, the winery has embraced some slightly obscure Italian varieties, screwcaps, and biodynamic production. The winery has changed focus in recent years from "every day table wines to high-end, boutique vintages".
