2009Testamatta IGT

Sangiovese-Italy-Tuscany

100% Sangiovese. Bibi Graetz's choice to name this wine Testamatta, or crazy head, expresses perfectly his passionate and strong willed personality. Aromas of prune, dried flowers, porcini and cedar lead to a full body, with velvety tannins and lots of ripe fruit and milk chocolate. Long and very soft, yet powerful. italy.

Deep red with ruby highlights. Reticent aromas of raspberry, red cherry and chocolate. Then large-scaled, fat and chunky on the palate, with highly concentrated red fruit and herbal flavors showing creamy depth and noteworthy persistence. This rather powerful wine stains the palate on the long, ripely tannic finish. I would have liked a bit more finesse, but many drinkers will love this.

"La Tache in Tuscany" - James Suckling, April 19, 2010 Considered one of Italy s most ingenious winemakers, Bibi Graetz has risen from artist to cult winemaker since making his first wines in 2000. Bibi has earned critical praise among Italian wine lovers as much for the colorful labels made from his own paintings as for the wines alone. Born and raised in Italy, Bibi makes his wine in his family home, Castello di Vincigliata, a castle in Fiesole, outside of Florence. Bibi uses only indigenous grapes to make his wine, including Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Colorino, which are grown in vineyards in Fiesole, and Ansonica from the island of Giglio, off the Tuscan coast
