2008 Dead Letter Office Shiraz

Shiraz-Australia/New Zealand-South Australia

It is a complex wine that changes and evolves with time in the glass, exhibiting blackberry and blueberry fruit, lifted spear-mint, lavender and thyme characters along with notes of toasted spice. The palate has a dense fruit weight with intense black-berry fruit flavors, anise spice notes, hints of caramel and mocha and typical freshening mint. The wine is dense, complex and very structural with a textured mouth feel, and a full-flavored finish that really lingers. Australia.

Although this starts off showing loads of vanilla and bright, boysenberry-like fruit, this is not a simple fruity concoction; there's some elegance here, and some savory notes of coffee and roasted meat, as well. Drink the rich, full-bodied Shiraz over the next few years. Editors Choice.

In 1992, the first Henry s Drive vines were planted. From the Longbottom farming properties: individual sites were selected most suited to viticulture and have proven to consistently produce fruit with great depth of colour, flavour and aroma.

Since 1992, we have steadily grown the acreage in Padthaway to 250 and have an additional 30 acres in McLaren Vale; growing Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with small plantings of Verdelho, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. The vines are planted in several sites throughout the Padthaway valley; the differing aspects and soil types provide a variety of flavour profiles which allows us to build more complexity into our wines.
