SAN ANTONIO - Customers from Texas (and beyond) are enjoying the exclusive Whataburger line of products launched earlier this year at H-E-B. With the popularity of the product, H-E-B and Whataburger are proud to announce their newest creation, salt and pepper seasoned Whatafries. The new Salt and Pepper Whatafries will be available at H-E-B, Central Market, Joe V's Smart Shop and Mi Tienda stores on Friday, January 31, 2014.
"We continue to receive overwhelming customer support for our Whataburger line of products," said Reade Ahrens, H-E-B Group Vice President of Grocery Procurement and Merchandising. "We want to provide Texans with the products and brands they love, and our goal is to continue introducing new and unique items our customers will enjoy."
Developed by the H-E-B product team, the unique Whatafries debuted in June. Whatafries are a "Texanized" version of the French fry that's crisp to the core with a big-ole-Texas crunch. The salt and pepper seasoned Whatafries pair perfectly with the popular Whataburger Fancy Ketchup, Spicy Ketchup and Original Mustard condiments, which launched earlier this year.

Whataburger has focused on its fresh, made-to-order burgers and friendly customer service since 1950 when Harmon Dobson opened the first Whataburger as a small roadside burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas. Dobson gave his restaurant a name he hoped to hear customers say every time they took a bite of his made-to-order burgers: "What a burger!" Within the first week, people lined up around the block for his 25 cent, 100 percent beef burgers served on five-inch buns. Today, the company is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, with more than 750 locations in 10 states with sales of more than $1 billion annually.
