Real Ale produces four terrific mainstays year-round and an ever-changing selection of seasonal brews throughout the year. Their old faithfuls include:
- Full Moon Pale Ale - a sweet, rich, amber-style beer
- Rio Blanco Pale Ale - like a proper British ale with great balance
- Brewhouse Brown - a darker, chocolaty, full-bodied brew
Real Ale's newest hit is called Fireman's #4, which is a more citrus-y, summer beer named after a Texas bike builder.
Location, Location, Location
As all Texans, the Real Ale Brewing Company lives and breathes Texas. The founders stationed their operations in the beautiful Hill Country town of Blanco, comfortably convenient to Texas' monstrous cities. Not only is Blanco home to some of the state's highest quality drinking water, it also makes for an efficient distribution point. Besides a cleaner environment, the routes from production to thirsty Texans' hands are also quicker, allowing for fresher beer for consumers to enjoy. When asked if Real Ale plans to distribute beer outside of Texas in the future, owner Brad Farbstein replied, "If you can't sell beer in your own backyard, why try someone else's?"
Second generation Texan Brad Farbstein bought the company two years into its inception. A native Houstonian and UT grad, Brad had already developed a passion for brewing beer at home long before he did it professionally. That passion is evident in the quality of the beer that Real Ale prides itself in producing. For him, it's all about great beer by Texans, for Texans.
Growth in Loyalty
Real Ale shows its commitment to Texas in other ways too. Almost all of their resources are from here. Their boxes come from Victory Packaging out of San Antonio and Temple Inland of Austin; their beer bottles come from Waco; and their spent grain (by-product of beer ingredients) goes to a local ranch for livestock feed, as remaining vital nutrients would otherwise go to waste. Fittingly, Real Ale is a long time Go Texan member and proud to say H-E-B is its longest supporting customer.
