February Beauty Pick: Revlon CustomEyes
The Scoop: If you want to replicate the dramatic eyes of Jessica Biel in those Revlon ads, then you should check out Revlon CustomEyes Shadow and Mascara.
CustomEyes Shadow: Create and customize the look you want with four shadows and one liner. Use the dual-ended applicator to create the look you want. Use the wider side to cover the eye area in shadow, and the pointed end to apply the liner shade.
CustomEyes Mascara: Define two looks with one applicator. Setting 1 aligns bristles for long and dramatic lashes. Setting 2 staggers the bristles for length and definition.
Words from our Beauty Advisor: Amber, San Antonio
To me, creating the perfect eye look is not an easy task. My eyes are small and shadow always seems to cover them up or make them look even smaller! (Is that possible?) However, the new Revlon CustomEyes collection makes it just a little bit easier for those who struggle with this daunting task.
The shades of the CustomEyes collection blend really well together and look amazing when finished applying. The back of the shadow case has instructions on how to apply and shows which shades look their best on parts of the eyelid. I would definitely wear the Naturally Glamorous collection going out or even as an everyday look. It has subtle but beautiful browns to brighten my peanut eyes.
The CustomEyes Mascara finishes off the look perfectly. It was really easy to apply. I just curl my lashes with a basic eyelash curler before applying mascara and zigzag my way up the lashes with the brush. I normally have to take my time with this part because of the fear of clumping, but with this mascara, I was able to finish it off in a hurry. I completely recommend this mascara if you're thinking that you don't have time for any makeup but are wanting an everyday eye look. It takes just a couple seconds, and it's fool-proof!
Reviews from the H-E-B Beauty Panel:
"I liked the concept of the dual purpose mascara; Length & Drama vs. Length & Definition. It took a few tries to get the coverage I anticipated, but overall I liked the product and enjoyed experimenting with using the length and definition for a "day" look and the length and drama for an evening look.
I received the Naturally Glamorous 020 brown/bronze shades. I liked the shades against my Asian skin tone. I also liked that the highlighter shade was larger than the other tones, as I would use the highlighter 100% of the time. I ended up using my own eye shadow brush, as I was more comfortable with it and I felt it applied the shadow more evenly. The diagram on the back was nice. I am interested in seeing the other color palettes and how they would compliment my make-up mood — Fun & Flirty, Romantic, Professional, etc." -Julie, H-E-B Advertising Account Manager
"Eye shadow, LOVE it! The color pay off was awesome. The formula was so smooth. I felt I could apply with my finger tips. I didn't. I used the brush which was included. The colors blended well and I can't wait to try more colors. I was not as excited about the mascara. I get the idea that a woman might want two different looks, but I always go for the fullest, biggest lash I can get." -Judi, H-E-B Beauty Buyer
"First, I've got to begin by saying that mascara is a product I'm highly involved with, so I was anxious to give this product a try. I love the concept of being able to get two looks with just one tube. This mascara definitely delivered by staying on my lashes which was a big plus for me. However, I didn't like the brush bristles. They didn't seem soft and gentle.
Now the shadow I liked and would continue to buy. I love the color palette, because it compliments my eyes. The shadow goes on smooth, and I don't feel like it's too dry or too creamy. Sometimes I have problems with the shadow being too creamy and not applying correctly. What I absolutely appreciated was the color guide on the back of the shadow box. I always forget what part of the lid the colors are recommended to go on." -Veronica, H-E-B Advertising Account Manager
"Shadows: I found the Naturally Glamorous shades versatile since the rich brown tones can be played up or played down depending on the occasion. For work, I went lighter on the darker browns and blended the highlight color to tone down the shadow. On the weekend, I wore the liner color and the warm copper color a little heavier. The shadow lasted the whole night. Since this set has lots of bronze and gold, it went great with my olive skin tone!
Mascara: I look at the CustomEyes mascara like a two for one deal since you can change the brush to get a different effect. However, I found that it can get a little flaky if you apply too much on the bottom lashes. Of the two looks, I prefer more definition and length than dramatic look." -Jenina, heb.com Associate Editor
"I liked that the colors all complement one another; they blend nicely and stay throughout the day when you apply a primer. For a natural look apply the highlight (lightest) shade over your entire lid after applying the darker shades.
The innovative brush to achieve two different looks seemed intriguing enough. I wanted to love this mascara, unfortunately I felt it was just average. I didn't see much difference in using the brush on setting 1 (length and drama) vs. setting 2 (length and definition). If using an eyelash curler, I found it's best to use before applying the mascara. This ensures none of those little black dots appear below your eye throughout the day." -Nicole, heb.com Content Administrator
