3 pounds boneless beef shoulder roast
1 package (1.25 oz.) dry onion soup mix
1 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
3/4 cup water
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
Select a covered pan sized to fit the roast. Too large a pan causes over-cooking.
Sprinkle soup mix and pepper over roast. Pour water around roast.
Cook 2 hours or until roast is fork-tender.
Serve with juices from pan or ready-made gravy over roast.
