1 egg, beaten
2 1/2 cups turkey stock or chicken broth
8 ounces regular H-E-B pork sausage
1 medium onion, chopped
5 stalks celery, chopped
1 golden delicious apple, coarsely chopped
1 Rome apple, coarsely chopped
1 14 ounce package cubed herb seasoned stuffing mix
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
4 tablespoons butter, melted
Whisk beaten egg into stock or broth and set aside.
Heat oven to 325°F.
Spray a 13x9-inch-baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
Heat a large skillet over high heat. Add sausage, stirring frequently until crumbled and brown.
Add chopped onion, celery, and apples.Continue to cook mixture until onion is clear (about 3 minutes).
In a large bowl, combine stuffing mix, cooked sausage mixture, nutmeg, salt, pepper and egg/broth mixture. Mix well.
Add stuffing to prepared baking dish. Pour the melted butter over stuffing.
Cover with foil and bake for 35 minutes. Uncover and bake 5 additional minutes.
