6  cups  shredded Napa cabbage (1 small head)

4  ounces  fresh snow peas

1/2  c.  finely chopped red onion

1/3  cup  chopped Gundelsheim Barrel Garlic Pickles OR Hengstenberg Cornichons

2  tablespoons  toasted sesame seeds (see note below)

*  optional garnish: crisp chow mein noodles


1/4  cup  Gundelsheim White Vinegar

2  tablespoons  Hill Country Fare Vegetable Oil

2  tablespoons  sugar

1  tablespoon  grated fresh gingerroot, optional


Cut cabbage in half and remove core. Slice cabbage very thinly to shred.

Pull and discard strings from snow peas; cut in half, lengthwise. Chop red onion and pickle.

Toss cabbage, onion, snow peas, pickle, and sesame seeds in a large bowl; set aside.

Combine dressing ingredients in a small bowl. Pour over cabbage mixture and toss to coat and combine. Season to taste.

Serve immediately or refrigerate for later serving time. Toast sesame seeds in a small skillet over Medium heat 3 to 5 minutes or until lightly browned.
