1/2cupEach: hill country fare vegetable shortening and margarine,

1Line cupcake pans with 18 foil or paper liners and set aside. Heat the oven to 350F. Prepare the cake batter according to package directions and spoon 1/3 cup into each cupcake liner. Bake the cupcakes for 20 minutes. Cool cup cakes before icing.
2Cream the vegetable shortening and margarine in a mixing bowl with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 3 minutes or until fluffy. Add the vanilla and mix 1 more minute on medium speed.
3Add the confectioners' sugar to the icing mixture one cup at a time while mixing on medium speed. Add the 2 Tablespoons milk and mix on high speed for 1 minute or until icing is fluffy.
4Divide the icing evenly into 3 small bowls. Add the blue and red food color to 2 of the bowls of icing and blend well. Ice 6 cupcakes with each color of icing and sprinkle with the matching color sprinkles. Use the red, white and blue sprinkles on the white icing. Arrange the cupcakes on a large platter alternating the 3 colors
