Ingredients

1cupmargarine or butter, softened,

3/4cuppowdered sugar,

1egg,

1teaspoonvanilla,

2cupall-purpose flour,

1 1/4cupQuaker oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked),

1/4teaspoonsalt (optional),

48assorted bite-size candies, colored sugar, or candy sprinkles,

Directions

1Heat oven to 325 degrees.

2Beat margarine and sugar until creamy.

3Add egg and vanilla; beat well.

4Add combined flour, oats, and salt; mix well.

5Shape dough into 1-inch balls.

6Press desired candy piece into center of each ball; shape dough around candy so it is completely hidden.

7Roll cookies in colored sugar or candy sprinkles until evenly coated.

8Place 1 1/2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

9Bake 14 to 17 minutes or until set and bottoms are light golden brown.

10Remove to wire rack.

11Cool completely.

12Store tightly covered
