Christmas Tree Cake

1box (18 oz.)Betty Crocker supermoist cake mix any flavor,

1/3cupVegetable oil,


2containersBetty Crocker whipped fluffy white frosting,

3Candy canes cut off curved ends,

1bottleWiltons green sugar sprinkles,

1cupHill Country Fare spice drop candies,


1Heat oven to 350F (325F for a dark or non-stick pan). Prepare the cake as directed on the package for a 13x9 inch cake. Cool cake and level the top of the cake with a serrated knife if necessary.

2Freeze the cake for one hour for easier frosting. Starting at the center edge of one of the 9 inch sides, make two diagonal cuts to the lower corners (cutting a triangle or the Christmas Tree shape). To make the bottom layer of the cake, place the two small triangles together (with the long straight sides touching) on a foil lined rectangular cake platter or tray.

3Ice the top of the bottom cake layer and place the remaining triangle cake on top. Frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining frosting. Insert the three candy canes on the bottom of the tree to make the tree trunk. Sprinkle the cake with the green sugar sprinkles to form the tree branches. Arrange spice gumdrops on the cake to look like the lights & ornaments
