Sirloin Steaks With Green Beans And Mushrooms
1 lb. sirloin steaks, cut 1 1/2 inches thick
1 tsp. each salt & pepper
2 Tbsp. olive oil, divided
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 lb. green beans, ends removed
1 pt. mushrooms, quartered
1 white onion, sliced
1/2 c. dry white wine
Generously season steak with salt, pepper, half of olive oil, and garlic. Remove top rack
from oven and place steak directly on it. Set aside.
Place foil or a sheet pan on bottom rack of a cool oven (to catch drippings
and prevent sm
oke). Turn oven to broil (High). Place rack with steak in hot
oven. Do not let oven door c
lose completely. If this is a problem, fashion a
wedge out of foil to keep door cracked op
en. Cook steak 5 minutes, then
carefully remove and flip over. Cook an additional 5 minute
s. Remove steak and
let stand 10 minutes before slicing.
Meanwhile, in a large sauté pan over Medium heat, combine remaining olive oil, gree
n beans, mushrooms, and onions. Sauté approximately 10 minutes.
Add wine, turn off heat and cover until steaks are ready.
