Spicy Grilled Cinnamon Apple
Ingredients
4 Granny Smith apples, cored and cut into ½-inch rounds
* Juice of 1 lime
¼ tsp. Central Market Organics® Cayenne Pepper
½ tsp. Central Market Organics® Ground Cinnamon
½ tsp. Central Market Organics® Ginger
½ c. Central Market Organics™ Light Brown Sugar
½ gallon H-E-B Creamy Creations® Vanilla Ice Cream
Directions
Combine sliced apples, lime juice, and 2 cups water in a large mixing
bowl, soak 5 minutes
, then drain on paper towels. The lime juice will prevent
the apples from turning brown.
Heat gas or charcoal grill to 375°F. Spray a vegetable or mesh grilling
rack with nonstic
k cooking spray and set on a tray.
Combine cayenne pepper, cinnamon, ginger, and brown sugar in a pie
dish. Press one side of
each apple slice into the cinnamon mixture and
set on grilling rack. Allow the spice mixt
ure to dissolve into the apple for
2 minutes. Turn apple slices over and sprinkle with rem
aining cinnamon
mixture.
Grill apples uncovered for 3 minutes on each side until they are caramelized
and begin to
sizzle and bubble. Immediately place 3 hot apple
slices in each dessert bowl and top with
vanilla ice cream.
