1/4 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 egg, beaten
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon salt
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Grease two cookie sheets, set aside.
Cream the butter and the brown sugar well.
Beat in egg until well blended.
Beat in vanilla, flour, spices, and salt.
(Batter will be thin.
Pour batter onto prepared cookie sheets, forming 3 inch rounds.
Cookies will spread, so place only 3 or 4 cookies to a sheet.
Bake 8 or 9 minutes or until lightly browned.
Remove immediately from cookie sheet, one cookie at a time, and roll each cookie around th
e handle of a wooden spoon. Transfer to rack to cool.
