1/4 cup yeast (about 4 envelopes)
1 cup milk
1 egg, slightly beaten
4 cups flour
3/4 cup butter
Dissolve yeast in a little cold milk in a large bowl. Add rest of milk, salt and egg. Add
flour and mix to a light dough.
Place on a cookie sheet and roll into oblong shape.
Cut butter (which must be cold but not refrigerator cold) into slices and put these on one
half of the dough. Fold the other half over and seal the edges. Roll again into a triangl
e. Fold three times, seal and roll into a triangle, repeat twice.
Let stand in a cool place for one hour.
Preheat oven to 475°F.
Divide dough in half. Roll into two circles and divide each into 6 pie shaped pieces. Beg
inning at round edge, roll up.
Place on cookie sheet and let rise in a cool place for one hour.
Brush with egg. Bake about 7 to 8 minutes.
