4 dozen 3-Inch Straws
1 pound sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1/4 pound butter or margarine
1 tablespoon cold water
1 3/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika
Mix cheese and butter until soft.
Add egg and water; beat well.
Sift flour, salt, cayenne and paprika together.
Add to cheese mixture in three additions, beating well after each addition.
Shape dough into rolls and wrap in plastic film or foil; refrigerate 30 to 60 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Fill cookie press, fitted with sawtooth disk, or roll out dough into a thin sheet cutting
strips in three to six pieces.
Place on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake 18 to 20 minutes or until just starting to brown lightly
